Landscape Design
Our design team combines your ideas and your needs with our experience
and training to create a complete, unique and functional outdoor
space. Our goal is to enable you to make the best possible use of
your site within the limits set by your resources.
Our Landscape Design Process (Example: Project
1)
The Initial Site Visit
This visit gives us the opportunity to see your property,
talk with you about your ideas, needs and priorities. We will explain
our design process and share our portfolio of recent landscape design
and construction work and the associated costs of those projects.
Scope of Work
If after our meeting you are interested in a landscape
design, we develop a scope of work and fee for your review and approval.
The scope of work defines the project parameters. If an element
is left out or added after the design is started, the scope of work
can be modified.
Creating a Base Map
The first step in the design process is to have an accurate
inventory of the site, including dimensions. We identify what there
is to work with and the sites opportunities and limitations (e.g.,
views, elevations changes, drainage concerns & existing vegetation).
Preliminary Concepts (example)
Two preliminary concepts for landscape improvements are developed,
guided by the scope of work. These improvements may include walkways,
patios, decks, driveways, retaining walls, water features, fences
and arbors. The concepts are drawn by hand and are reviewed and
refined with you.
Layout Plan (example)
Based on your decisions on the preliminary concepts, we
create a computerized layout plan.
Preliminary Planting Plan (example)
The layout plan is used as a framework for the planting
plan. Plant material is selected based on the scope of work and
the site requirements. The planting plan shows the type, location
and sizes of the mature plants. We review the planting plan and
plant photos with you in our office.
Final Landscape Plan (example)
After you review the planting plan, we create final construction
drawings. These drawings can be used to formulate costs and to follow
for construction.
Estimating (example)
(Need Acrobat Reader?)
Once the plans are complete, we can provide an estimate for installation.
Based on your input and resources, we can provide phased costs so
you can install the project over time or install parts of the project
yourself. Since the design is a separate fee, the plan is yours
and you have the option of using a contractor.
